Charles (Charlie) J. Bauer, 76, passed away on July 7, 2026, in Rapid City surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 13, 2026, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 P.M., Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan, with the Rosary and Vigil beginning at 6 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at Christ the King.

Charlie was born August 2, 1949, in Mandan, ND to Joseph and Perpetua (Schlosser) Bauer. He was raised on the family farm near Mandan. He graduated from Mandan High School and remained proud of his hometown throughout his life. On October 19, 1985, Charlie married the love of his life, Lois Cote. Together they built a loving home and raised three daughters in Mandan, creating a family that was the center of Charlie’s life. In 2024, they moved to Rapid City, SD to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Charlie was a devout Catholic and spent many hours volunteering with the Knights of Columbus. He loved fishing, camping, reading, woodworking, gardening, and working on puzzles. Whether he was crafting something with his hands, tending to his garden, or enjoying the outdoors, Charlie treasured every moment. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family. His face would light up when his grandchildren would walk into the room, and his warm smile was one of the many things those around him will always remember.

Charlie wasn’t one for big speeches or fuss, but he showed his love through consistency, hard work, and being there when it mattered. He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, unwavering love for his family, steadfast faith, and the smile he so freely shared with everyone he met.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 40 years, Lois; his three daughters: Lindsay (Nathan) Roberts, Sheridan, WY, Michelle (Sean) Solberg, Rapid City, SD, and Danielle Bauer, Parker, CO; his four grandchildren: Brielle, Madison, and Hudson Solberg, and Conrey Roberts; his brothers: Dewayne (Elaine) and Harold (Agnes), both of Mandan; his sisters: Linda Kraft, Bismarck, Lila (Joe) Kuntz, Solen, Marie (Jack) Freidt, Gladys Kahl, and Alice Bauer, all of Mandan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Perpetua, and his brothers, David and Glenn.
