Carol was born August 31, 1942 to Nick and Kathryn (Kraft) Stumpf in Mandan. Carol was raised and educated in Mandan graduating in the class of 1960 from Mandan High School.
As a young girl one of her first jobs was working at the S&K Dairy in Mandan. And wouldn’t you know one day a young man by the name of Charles stopped in for a sweet treat. They were later married September 12, 1963 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Soon after seven children made up a family of nine in which mom devoted herself to. Teaching us so many valuable life lessons that made each of us who we are today.
“There is no such thing is I can’t”, “For every action there is a reaction!”, “I’m not your social director!”, “Two wrongs don’t make a right!” and “Nothing good happens after midnight!”. Small but powerful life lessons. Carol had her hands full but persevered by the Grace of God as the kids grew up. Many times, mother made something out of nothing to provide for us kids. Her faith in God, optimism, witty sense of humor and prayer were examples of the many tools she had in her tool chest.
After her youngest entered school, she jumped at the opportunity to go back to work. Dakota Harvest Bakery in Bismarck needed and office manager so she took on that challenge. God opened the door and she became office manager at Mandan Supply and Equipment working for the Schaff family for over 20 years. She enjoyed her job, coworkers and most of all the customers. After retirement she continued bookkeeping from her home. Crunching numbers was mom’s specialty.
Her grandkids and great-grandkids completed her. She was always up to speed on events, hobbies, education, sports and most of all, birthdays.
Carol is survived by her children: Robin (Richard) Bauer, McClusky, Steve Wolt, Mandan, Vicki (Kyle) Sedivec, Mandan, Dawn (Donald) Bauer, McClusky, Scott (Missy) Wolt, Bismarck, Melissa (Lance) Kleinjan, Mandan and Stacie (Thomas) Fischer, Bismarck. Her sister Donna Miller, Bismarck and sister-in-law, Violet Stumpf, WA along with 25 grandkids and 28 great-grandkids and a special friend, Arlene Kleinjan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles (2000), her sister Nancy and brother Mick.
