Carol Sebastian, 83, of Hebron, ND, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hebron with Fr. Gary Benz as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 - 6 PM on Wednesday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church followed by a 6 PM Rosary and Prayer Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Carol was born August 4, 1941, in Mandan, the second child of Peter and Eva (Bleth) Gartner. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1960.

Carol married Dennis Sebastian on September 28, 1960, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin. Once they were married, they farmed 10 miles northeast of Hebron. In 1964, they purchased the family farm from Dennis’ parents, Frank and Teckla Sebastian. Carol enjoyed the outdoors, being on the farm, and being around the animals. Carol and Dennis had two children, Larry and Brenda. Carol loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

For a number of years Dennis painted with his dad, Frank. After Frank retired Dennis and Carol started together in the painting business. Painting was a full-time job doing interior and exterior work. She loved to do the windows and paint the low parts of buildings. Through the years, Carol and Dennis painted in the communities of Hebron, Glen Ullin, Dickinson, Taylor, Richardton, and Elgin. They were known for painting many high barns, churches, and houses in the communities of Hebron and Glen Ullin. After they moved into the Estates, Carol said to Dennis that she wished they were still painting.

Carol loved her garden, flowers, canning, baking, sewing, and working on family history. Canning often took place on the hottest of days. Sewing was a skill she inherited from her mom and was known for sewing late at night. Carol could often be found praying the Rosary at night.

Sundays were known for a family dinner day followed by “Happy Hour” at noon. Carol loved listening to old time music. For years Carol and Dennis worked at Rocky’s where they developed many friendships over the years.

In 2017, Carol and Dennis moved to the Marian Manor Estate apartments in Glen Ullin. Carol loved the community potlucks that were held in the community room.

Carol is survived by her son, Larry Sebastian; daughter, Brenda (Kerry) Richardson; grandchildren, Nicole (Mac) Hoerner, Jodi (David) Leier, and Brian (Sydney) Richardson; great grandchildren, Madison Hoerner, Mason Hoerner, Hayley Hoerner, Hayden Hoerner, and Taylor Hoerner; sisters-in-law, Janice Gartner and Anita (Archie) Reidlinger; brother-in-law, Ronald Sebastian; and several nieces and nephews.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; parents, Peter and Eva Gartner; brother, Donald Gartner; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernard and Mitsue Sebastian, Norman and Eunice Sebastian, and Archie Reidlinger, Marlene Sebastian; and several nieces and nephews.
