Bonnie Bundy

In loving memory of…

Bonnie Lou (Delaney) Bundy slipped into eternity on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Phoenix, Arizona. She was born January 4,1936 at her parent’s farm near Devils Lake, ND, daughter of Frank and Julia (Parkos) Delaney.

Bonnie’s family moved to Bemidji, MN where she attended a country school along with her siblings and graduated from Bemidji High School in1953. She later worked for Dr. Davy’s family while attending Oak Hills Bible College. Her later education included graduating from Bismarck Junior College and attending University of Mary, Bismarck, ND.

While spending the summer with her grandparents in Devils Lake, ND, Bonnie met her future husband, Burton George Bundy, in Devils Lake, ND at church where Burton served as the youth director. They were married November 28, 1954 in Puposky, MN. Burton was a widower at that time with son, Daniel Bundy, and daughter, Susan Bundy. Bonnie loved Daniel and Susan immediately as her own, making them a family of four. Together they moved to New Rockford, ND then Williston, ND with their desire to be involved in the Lutheran Brethren Fellowship Church (LB). In Williston they completed their family with the birth of three more children, Jane, Patricia and Barry.

During that time, Burton and Bonnie were involved in Gideons and through their church, they participated in the Family Bible Hour on a local television station. Bonnie presented Bible Stories for children, plus Burton and Bonnie sang in various groups on the program. In their desire to serve their Lord, Burton, Bonnie and family moved to Sidney, Montana to start a new LB Church in 1967. Bonnie used her gift as piano player to give piano lessons in addition to her involvement with music and children’s ministry at Church. She was a loving and attentive mother who also used her talent as homemaker to sew clothes and decorate their home. Bonnie was a wonderful hostess having people over for meals and/or coffee - sometimes serving what we called “Bonnie Toast” with coffee.

Burton, Bonnie, and family, continued to start new LB Churches in Bismarck and Fargo, ND, as well as serve other LB or affiliated congregations in ND. From Fargo they moved to Fort Collins, CO - living close to their son Barry (Wanda) and their family, and from there to Grand Forks, ND. During that time, as their children left home for college and marriage, Bonnie continued to teach piano students, be involved in church as well work part-time at various businesses, eventually working full-time with the Postal Service. Burton and Bonnie moved back to Williston, ND in their retirement, living close to their children, Daniel (Linda) and Susan (Jim) and their families.

After Burton’s death in 2011, Bonnie moved back to Bemidji, MN to be close to her family for a few years. In 2020, with the help of her children, Bonnie moved to Phoenix, AZ to be close to her daughters, Jane (Joel) and Patty (Bob). She eventually transitioned to assisted living until June 7, 2026, when she peacefully went home to her Savior.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Susan (Jim) Jenks, Jane (Joel) Backstrom, Patricia (Bob) Roeder, Barry (Wanda) Bundy; daughter-in-law Linda Bundy; grandchildren, Julie (Shawn) Wisen, Starla (Jason) Marmon, Tony (Vicki) Bundy, Mike (Jena) Jenks, Scott Jenks, Ben (Amber) Backstrom, Zach (Angela) Backstrom, Tom (Jaimee) Backstrom, Angela (Kelvin) Wong, April (Cole) Babcock, Nick Bundy, Sam Bundy; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna and Judy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton and son, Daniel.
