William “Bill” Joseph Schneider, 43, of Mandan, ND, passed away August 7, 2025 surrounded by love.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 20th at Engage Church in Mandan (4209 Old Red Trail NW).
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the church with a remembrance service/time of sharing at 7:00 PM.
Bill was born November 13, 1981 in Bismarck, ND to Steve and Mary (Anderson) Schneider. He grew up in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 2000.
He began his heavy haul career alongside his father, Steve Schneider, truly learning from the best. He was employed with J & S Heavy Haul and most recently at Barnhart Crane & Rigging, where he formed close friendships with his coworkers. Outside of work, Bill had a passion for motorcycle riding, fishing, exercising, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need.
Bill’s heart for others led him to Destination Elevation, where he served as Executive Director, mentoring youth and adults to overcome adversity and make choices that paved the way for brighter futures.
He was known for his love of connection, often calling friends and family just to chat, share a laugh, offer a prayer, or ask if he could pray for them. A natural entertainer, Bill was famous for sending videos of himself karaoke-style, singing his favorite songs from behind the wheel of his semi. Whether through laughter, prayer, or his signature move..blowing the air horn, Bill made sure you knew you mattered to him.
Bill was a devoted father to his children, Zoey and Samuel, who were the very center of his world…his absolute pride and joy. Everything he did, he did with them in mind.
Recently, Bill completed a book chronicling his life’s journey, a testament to his resilience, humor, and faith. His quick wit, unforgettable stories, and way of making everyone feel seen will be deeply missed.
Bill is survived by his children, Zoey and Samuel Schneider; his parents, Steve (Malinda) Schneider of Mandan, ND, and Mary (Robert) Gronek of Wilton, ND; sisters, Amy (Mark) Roberts and Jessica Schneider (Ed Kinvig), both of Bismarck, ND; niece, Lexie (Blake) Schepp; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; his Barnhart Crane & Rigging family; and his beloved cat, Oakley (“Grandpa’s boy”).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Art and Ruth Anderson, Matt and Agatha Schneider; and dear friends Ryan Werner, Derek “Cheech” Vollmuth, and Wayne Lang.
Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith—one that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
We welcome any friends and family who share Bill’s love for motorcycles, to ride along with us in procession to St. Mary’s Cemetery following the memorial service.
His family would like to offer special thanks to Pastor Jon and the crew at Barnhart Crane & Rigging. Also, to all friends and family that prayed, brought food, texts, phone calls, visits and sharing their memories of Bill with us lifting our spirits during our time of sorrow.
