Beverly Kennelly

Beverly Kennelly, 89, of Mandan, passed away June 12, 2019 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Reverend Josh Waltz as celebrant. A private family burial will take place.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Beverly Friesz was born May 28, 1930, in Mandan, ND to John and Esther Friesz.  She graduated from the College of St. Catherine’s, St. Paul, MN with a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics.

On June 28, 1952, she married the love of her life, Douglas “Breen” Kennelly.  After raising her family, she worked as a Dietary Manager at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.  After her retirement she volunteered at the St. Alexius Gift Shop for many years.

Bev had an infectious laugh, a beautiful soul, and incredible energy who was grounded by her strong catholic faith with the most fun-loving personality.  It was often that she would stop to talk and visit with anyone. A big moment for this huge “true” Viking’s football fan, was when she went to the new U.S. Bank Stadium.  Her autographed Adam Thielen jersey was a treasure. She was one classy lady, with an eye for style who could outshop anyone, even outrunning her grandkids! With the most caring heart, her family was always the center of her world.

Bev will be deeply missed by her daughters, Kathleen (James) Boyle of Rapid City, SD, Helen (Leonard) Bullinger of Bismarck, ND, and Jane (Randy) Rath of Bismarck, ND; son, Patrick of Mandan, ND; 5 grandchildren, Vanessa, Brian, Rachel, Lisa, and Brianna; and 8 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kaden, Ethan, Brayden, Hudsen, Carson, Briella, and Bo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Breen; and an infant daughter, Bridgid.
