Arnetta Marie VandenBurg

Arnetta Vandenburg, 70, of Mandan, passed away June 8, 2023.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, ND with Pastor Phil Leer presiding.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Arnetta "Netta" Marie VandenBurg (Ternes) was born on November 10, 1952, to Ambrose and Theresa Ternes.  She attended St. Lawerence Elementary and graduated from Flasher High School in 1971.  She married her high school sweetheart, Kent VandenBurg, in July of 1972.  Kent and Arnetta had three children, Kyle, Keith and Cristi.

Netta was a creative lady and enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting and crocheting.  She created many decorations, quilts and clothing along with countless alterations.  She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and large groups alike, whether it was for the guys helping work cattle, bringing out a hot meal to the field during harvest or making huge holiday meals for the family.  Gardening was also one of Netta’s passions, she often had huge gardens and then would spend the fall canning and pickling.  

Arnetta is survived by Kent; her children, Kyle (Rachel) of Solen, Keith (Nicole) of Bismarck, Cristi (Ben) Grinsteiner of New Salem; nine grandchildren; MaeKayla (Mickey) of Bozeman, MT, Oakley, Shaw and Klaira of Solen, Alexis (Fuss), River, Piper of Bismarck, Kane and Chase of New Salem; two brothers, David (Darlene) of Flasher, DuWayne (Sharon) of Bismarck; four sisters, LuElla (Harvey) Wald of Mesa AZ, Sherry (Chuck) Andrus of Dickinson, Karen (Ron) Bonogofsky of Flasher, and Brenda Ternes of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews. 

Arnetta was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Theresa Ternes; one sister, LoRetta; one brother, Arthur; her father and mother-in-law, Henry and Peggy VandenBurg; two brothers-in-law, Harvey Wald and Bryan VandenBurg; and one nephew, Derek Ternes.
