Amanda Koenig, 85, of Mandan, passed away January 2, 2022 at Sunset Drive a Prospera Community, Mandan.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, ND with Pastor Phil Leer as officiant. Inurnment will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Amanda Pearl (Dehne) Koenig was born on April 26, 1936, to Emil and Jennie (Molob) Dehne in Woodworth, ND. Amanda was raised and educated in Robinson where she graduated at the age of 16 and then went on to teach at a rural school for a year. Amanda then went to work for Woolworth’s and then the Cass Clay Creamery where she was the secretary.
Amanda married the love of her life, Willis, on December 26, 1952, and the two spent 66 years together. During their years together they loved to go camping and fishing. Amanda loved to do crossword puzzles, crochet, and knit. She also loved to travel and was able to visit Alabama, Idaho, Boston, and Florida.
Amanda will be deeply missed by her children, Kathy (Keith) Pryor, Pingree, ND and Kim Koenig, Mandan; four grandchildren, Chad, Shawna, Tanner, and Derek; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brandt, Olivia, Avery, and Madilyn; siblings, Genevieve Nerby, Bismarck, Edith Otto, Mandan, Derril (Anne) Dehne, Wollington, Florida, and Marvin (Phyllis) Dehne, Tuttle, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
Amanda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Willis; her parents; daughter-in-law, Diane Koenig; sister, Irene Whitman; brothers, Dale (Mary Ann) Dehne, Emil Junior, and Gordon.
