Amanda Lynn Kist, age 39, of Mandan, went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2025.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 2, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, 408 9th St NW, Mandan, ND, with Pastor Phil Leer officiating. Amanda will be laid to rest at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Mandan with a prayer service and time of sharing at 6 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
Amanda was born September 5, 1985, in Bismarck, the daughter of Renee (Metzger) and Matt Meidinger and Dean Stern. Raised and educated in Mandan, Amanda graduated from Mandan High School in 2004. Pursuing her passion, Amanda attended the Hair Academy in Bismarck and in 2006, became a licensed Cosmetologist. Amanda was a dedicated cosmetologist whose artistry and skill transformed the lives of many. With a keen eye for style and a warm and welcoming demeanor, she made every client feel beautiful and valued. Throughout her career she not only enhanced appearances but also built lasting relationships and provided a listening ear and supportive presence. Her love of Cosmetology was evident in her meticulous work and the joy she brought to each appointment. Amanda will be remembered not just for her talent, but for the kindness and love she shared with everyone who walked through her salon doors at Amanda’s Cuts and Colors.
In August of 2008, it was love at first sight and the romance between Amanda and Willie began. They shared years of love, travel, adventures, and quiet nights. On August 23, 2019, Amanda married Willie Kist and they made their home in Mandan. Amanda and Willie loved going to the lake cabin on Lake Sakakawea, this was a special place for them as a couple. They loved being fur baby parents to Moosie and River. Willie and Amanda will always be true soulmates.
Amanda was a daughter, sister, wife, auntie, cousin, niece, friend, stylist, and dog mom to Moosie and River whom she loved. Family was incredibly important to Amanda. Her nieces and nephews brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was celebrating milestones or simply enjoying a pool party on the weekends. Amanda had a close bond with her siblings, always supporting and uplifting each other through life’s ups and downs. Her parents were her foundation, instilling in her values of love and togetherness.
Amanda and her mom, Renee, shared a bond that went beyond mother and daughter, they were best friends who talked multiple times a day. They both had a love of traveling and traveled a few times a year together making many memories together. Her Mom will forever miss her daily “Good morning, I love you, Good night, and I love you” calls.
Growing up Amanda was blessed by two special men in her life, her dad, Dean, and dad, Matt. They provided love and support growing up and she loved all her time spent with both of them. Amanda was always thinking of dad Dean on every vacation and brought him back a Harley Davidson shirt. Amanda and Dean bonded many nights hanging out in the backyard with their dogs. Amanda and dad Matt shared many vacations together, basketball games, movies, and camping making memories.
Amanda will be forever loved and remembered by her family, husband, Willie Kist; parents, Renee and Matt Meidinger and Dean Stern; in-laws, Bill and Mary Sue Kist; siblings, Josh Meidinger, Jennie Meidinger, Shelby (Sarah) Stern, Cody (Sarah) Stern, April Stern, and Casey (Kyra) Stern; brother-in-law, Ben (Shayla) Kist; Grandpa, Al Meidinger; nieces and nephews, Logen Stern, Stella Stern, Avery Denning, Delanie Stern, Brecken Stern, Hudson Stern, and Leo Kist, and soon to be baby girl Meidinger; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Amanda was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Les and Carol Metzger, Gottlieb and Stella Stern, Jan Meidinger, and Marlys Stumpf; Godmother, Kim Hatzenbuhler; brother, Scott Meidinger; and several other aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Amanda's honor may be made to Furry Friends Rockin’ Rescue, Miles of Love Dog Rescue, or Kitty City.
