Alexander “Alex” Himmelspach, 89, Mandan, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025 in Mandan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27 from 2-6 PM at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan.
Alex was born December 14, 1935 in Glen Ullin, ND to Louie Himmelspach and Emilia (Sheetz) Himmelspach. Alex was raised in Glen Ullin on a farm, which he would tell stories for many years about his early years of farming.
Upon leaving the farm, Alex became a butcher, a job in which he kept until he retired at the age of 75. Alex left North Dakota in 1960 to raise his family. In 1985 he returned back to North Dakota. He loved the state of North Dakota dearly, his saying was “I was born here, I lived here and I will die here.” Wherever he was around town, everyone knew Alex and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeanie (Tim) Brandt and son, Tony (Renee) Himmelspach, sister, Alice (Jim) Bertch and brothers, Delbert (Anna) Himmelspach and Billy Himmelspach.
There were three special people in Alex’s life that were by his side to help in out in so many ways, Casper, Connie and Mark. He will be missed by many other friends that Alex touched. He will especially by missed and never forgotten by his family.
Alex is pain free and resting in peace with his parents, eight siblings and three children.
