Harold Hoff

August 22, 1928 — June 8, 2017

Harold Hoff, age 88, passed away June 8th at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 13th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as Celebrant. Burial services will be held immediately following the funeral at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 12, 2017 from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation will continue one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.

Harold was born to Raphael and Anna Hoff in Morton County on August 22, 1928. He was raised and educated in the New Salem area. Harold married Ann Friesz on May 23, 1951. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Harold was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and United Nations Service Medal. Harold and Ann had 6 children, Ellen (Myles) LeTang, Mandan, Carol (Tom) Andersen, Torrington, WY, Laurel (Glenn) Hufnagel, Billings, MT, Judith (Tim) Allmaras, New Rockford, Mary (Kenny) Graner, Mandan and Robert (Loretta) Hoff, Glen Ullin.

Harold enjoyed giving Myles fishing tips, Tim and Kenny farming/ranching tips, with his carpentry skills assisting Glenn and Robert, and coaching suggestions to Tom. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's school and sporting events in addition to giving them pointers on how to hunt, fish, and drive.

He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, Forty and Eight Veteran's Organization, and was recently honored by the American Legion as a 60-year member.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, Mandan; his children, 13 grandchildren, Teresa (Andersen) Bahn, David Andersen, Adam LeTang, Nick LeTang, Megan (Hufnagel) Fallon, Lisa (Hufnagel) McDaniel, John, Kristin, and Brett Allmaras, Sydney, Claire, Cole and Ethan Graner; 5 great grandchildren, Tommy and Dexter Bahn, Henry and Elinor McDaniel, and Helen LeTang; 1 brother, Larry (Bette) Hoff, 3 sisters, Beatrice Zander, Margaret Ternes, and Dorothy Bohl.

Harold was preceded in death by parents, Raphael and Anna; brothers, George (Irma), Ralph (Coretta) and Matt; brothers-in-law, Leland Ternes and Richard Zander.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the North Dakota Veteran Cemetery.
