Sebastian Babel, 92, Bismarck died on September 21, 2014 in Bismarck.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 10:00 am at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Burial will be at St. Anthony Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Sebastian was born on February 11, 1922 to Joseph and Paulina (Hopfauf) Babel in Solen, ND. He was raised on the family farm near the Junction Inn and attended grade school in St. Anthony, ND.
Sebastian worked on the family farm until he was 19, then he joined the CCC in Montana. He joined the United States Army Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1947. After his discharge he returned to work on the family farm. He operated heavy equipment, farmed and drove trucks which became his lifelong career. He enjoyed driving trucks and had a passion for the automobile industry. He delivered cars all over the United States. Sebastian also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Sebastian will be deeply missed by his daughters, Nikki Smith and Jenny (Tom) Wirtz both of Mandan, ND; sons, Robert (Kelly) Babel, Wisconsin, Rocky (Tami) Babel, Bismarck, ND and Marty (Jean) Babel, Arizona; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Rosemary Kitzrow, Edina, MN and Wilhelmina Dvorak, Idaho and brother Phil Babel, Hot Springs, SD.
Sebastian was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helena, Pat, Monica, Betty, Katie, Mag and Ann and brothers, John, Fabian and Martin.
