Rose Landeis

Rose M. Landeis, Mandan, died peacefully March 24, 2015 at Sanford Continuing Care Center in Mandan, ND

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday March 28, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 27, 2015 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home with a CDA rosary at 7:00 pm followed by a Parish Vigil. Visitation will continue at the church at the church one hour prior to Mass on Saturday.

Rose was born on August 3, 1930 to Raphael and Catherine (Barnhardt) Miller in Crown Butte, ND. She was raised on educated in that area. She married William Landeis on October 27, 1953 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Crown Butte. They together set up their farm northwest of Mandan where she resided for the next 60 years. Rose helped with the farm activities, took care of the homestead and raised their 5 children. Later, in 1980 Rose began working in Mandan for the Mandan School District. She retired from that job after 20 years.

Rose was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Mandan and the Women's Eagles Auxiliary. She also became an avid Mandan Braves Sports fan. She was an excellent cook and baker known for her specialties potato salad, rice and raisin dressing and homemade buns. She loved canning, especially meats which were always fresh from her farm.

Rose had the opportunity to travel to visit her children and grandchildren which she enjoyed. She and Bill took trips to Las Vegas for relaxation and shopping. She enjoyed concerts and activities with friends on tours around the ND area. Also, Rose made trips to Denver where she made new acquaintances.

Rose will be deeply missed by her daughter, Carol (John) Andersen, Denver, CO; sons, Glenn (Marti), Tucson, AZ, Keith (Marlys), Mandan, Kelvin (Patty), Maple Grove, MN and William Kurt in San Diego, CA. Also her 5 grandchildren, Audrey DiPaola (Dean), Denver, CO, Luke Hartwig, Ft Worth, TX, Victoria Landeis, Madison, WI, Samantha, Fargo, ND and Brett Landeis here in Mandan. She will also be missed by 2 great-grandchild; Dakota and Diesel DiPaola.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2007. Also preceding her were her sisters, Beatrice Lipp, Mary Kohler and Eleanore Schrader; her brothers, Matt, Anton, Jack and Ralph Miller; sisters-in-law, Irene Miller and Clara Miller; and brothers-in-law; Adam Lipp, Edward Kohler and Hans Schrader.

Rose was loved deeply and will be remembered fondly.
