Rose Berger

Rose Y. Berger, 87, Bismarck, passed away July 22, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, ND with Msgr. Tom Richter as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Rose was born on October 13, 1928 to George and Elizabeth (Barth) Yantzer in Crown Butte, ND. She was raised and educated in the Crown Butte area. On October 7, 1947 she married John R. Berger at St. Vincent Catholic Church at Crown Butte. Rose worked for The Dime Store and Hawley Dry Cleaners in Mandan. John and Rose worked side by side in the construction industry building many homes, apartments and commercial buildings in the Bismarck/Mandan area.

Rose had a green thumb and that was quite evident in the beautiful plants and flower beds she planted and cared for over the years. She had a love for animals, especially her cats and dogs. She enjoyed old time music and attended many dances with John as her dancing partner. Rose and John traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad.

Rose will be deeply missed by her husband, John; her daughter, Arlene (Jay) Kostelecky, West Fargo, ND; her sons, Ken (Kim) Berger, Keller TX and Scott (Lorrie) Berger, Mandan, ND; 4 grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Bednar, Ryan (Samantha) Kostelecky, Erika Berger and Derek Berger; 1 great-grandchild, Avery Bednar; sister, Betty Fleck, Bismarck, ND; brother, Arnold (Kathleen) Yantzer, Gypsum, CO; sisters-in-law, Monica Yantzer, Bismarck, ND and Roseann Griebel, Billings, MT along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tony Yantzer and Matt (Betty) Yantzer; sisters, Veronica (Gedius) Frohlich, Clara (Nick) Mosbrucker and brother-in-law, Peter Fleck.

The family would like to thank the staff at CHI St. Alexius Health and Touchmark for the wonderful care that Rose received.
