Michael Bonogofsky Sr, was born September 25, 1941 at Shields, ND to Casper C. and Rose (Nagel) Bonogofsky. He was raised and educated in the Shields area and learned his life’s career as a mechanic, beginning as a young man. He married Magdelena Heintz on June 9, 1962, at Sykeston, ND.

Michael’s mechanical abilities had him as the go-to guy for getting things fixed. Whether it was vehicles, boats or small engines, his generosity with his talents were available to friends and family. In the fifties oil boom, he worked there. He was socially out-going and always with a good sense of humor. He found time to relax- hunting, camping, and fishing and helping his friend Tony Belohlavek doing farm work. He owned his own sewing machine, which he mastered sewing and doing repair work for friends and family. The highlight of his life was his family. He was the happiest and most content simply being at home; these cherished memories will be a part of us.

Michael will be deeply missed by three daughters: Brenda (Wade) Buerkle, Mandan; Laura (Alex) Miranda, San Antonio, TX; and Kimberly Sammons, Lincoln, ND. One son-Michael Jr., Mandan. Nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A sister, Alvina Glass, Mandan. Two brothers, Victor (Mary), Cheyenne, WY; and Tony, Pampa, TX.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife Magdelena, who died March 26, 2010, two sisters, Tillie (Don) Hamilton; Viola (Lloyd) Ubanks, a brother, Edwin; a brother-in-law, Joseph Gloss; sister-in-law, Delores Bonogofsky.
