Louise Hatzenbuhler

Louise Hatzenbuhler, 100, Mandan, died February 4, 2015 at her home in Mandan surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, February 9, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant and Msgr. Gene Lindmann and Msgr. Patrick Schumacher as concelebrants. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 5:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Louise was born on October 16, 1914 to Anton and Margaret (Harm) Geiger in Odense, ND. She married Anton Hatzenbuhler on October 1, 1935 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Solen, ND.

After their marriage Tony and Louise lived in Dawson, ND where Tony was a grain buyer. In 1937 they moved to Mandan where he worked at Red Owl. Later they moved to Solen, ND where they farmed from 1953-1970, retiring to Mandan.

Louise was a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother . Her family and their wellbeing was central in her life. She was a typical farmer’s wife helping Tony in all aspects of the farm life. They were truly a team and worked well together. Louise loved to dance and travel throughout the United States, a highlight was a trip they made to Hawaii. She also loved to camp and they bought their first camper at the young age of 75. Louise was a busy lady but always had time for a little fun going to the casino to play her favorite machines.

Louise will be deeply missed by daughters, Diane George, Solen, ND, Shirley (Earl) Heinert, Bismarck, ND and Donna (Allan) Belinskey, Bismarck, ND; son Donald (Carol) Hatzenbuhler, Solen, ND; 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; step-parents, Chris and Rose Geiger, her husband Tony who died on April 5, 2000; son, Nicky; son-in-law, Frank George, Sr. and grandson, Frank George, Jr.
