Lenora Kuntz

January 4, 1928 — July 8, 2014

Lenora “Lee” Kuntz, age 86 went to meet her Lord and beloved husband Tony on July 8, 2014 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, surrounded by her loving family.

Lee and Tony were long time Mandan, ND residents with a zest for life and a love of family & friends.

The service celebration of Lenora’s life will be held at the Mandan United Methodist Church, 610 12th St. NW. Mandan on Thursday, July 17th, 2014 at 10:00 am, with the Rev. Craig Schweitzer officiating. Her final resting place will be next to her beloved Tony at the Mandan Union Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16th, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Ladies of the Moose Ritual at 6:30 pm at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan.

Lenora was born on January 4th, 1928 in Golden Valley, ND, the daughter of Rudolph and Lydia (Faser) Schekorsky. Lee was raised and educated in Halliday, ND before moving to Mandan. She married her best friend Anton (Tony) Kuntz on July 3, 1950. Lee worked at Quain and Ramstad Clinic in the Radiology Department for 38 years before retiring on September 1st, 1989. Lee was well known by the physicians of Q&R Clinic and the many medical student and residents for her spirit and organization of the Radiology film library.

Lee and Tony were together always and shared every life experience for over 62 years. They traveled extensively, to all 50 States including Alaska and Hawaii and to Australia and New Zealand. At home, Lee and Tony enjoyed camping and fishing at Graner Bottoms with their friends for many years. They were longtime members of the Mandan Moose Club. Lee (after Tony’s death in 2010) continued to travel and greatly enjoyed trips to Laughlin, NV. where she was a VIP guest.

Although, Lee and Tony did not have children, they were very special friends and confidants to their niece Judie Keller, her children Lori Balzer and Jeff Keller and their families. They were the first people to get a phone call when one of them had a bad day at school or skinned their knee playing sports and Christmas presents were never opened until Tony and Lee were there.

Lee was the matriarch of the family and will be greatly missed by her niece Judie Keller, Lori and Gene Balzer (Ryne & Mike) Jeff and Shana Keller, (Amanda and Sara).
She also leaves sisters-in-law Viola Curry (Hermes), Bloomfield, CO and Susan Kuntz, Arvada, CO and respective nieces and nephew.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tony, her sister Edna Bartole, her brother Albert Schekorsky and Judie’s husband Bill Keller.

The deep love and loss is only reconciled by knowing Lee and Tony are once again enjoying each other’s company in Heaven. Thank you for letting us enjoy your kindness and spirit for so many years.

Memorials are requested to Mandan United Methodist Church.
