Lee Douglas Nelson, 71, Mandan, died October 27, 2014 at his residence in Mandan.
Lee was born on October 10, 1943 to Byron and Dorothy (Boots) Nelson. Lee was raised and educated in Garrison, North Dakota by his grandparents and an Aunt and Uncle. After graduating from high school he entered the United States Navy where he served for 4 years. Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1966 he married Kathy Larson. To this union three daughters were born. Lee married Cindy Klevgaard in 1979. To this union one daughter was born.
Lee worked as an Optician in many locations in North Dakota and South Dakota. He retired in 2003 and enjoyed watching sports on TV and spending time with his girls and grandchildren. He had recently moved to Mandan from Sioux Falls, SD to be closer to his family.
Lee will be deeply missed by his daughters, Debbie (Ken) Bitz, Bismarck, ND, Karla (Tom) Tysver, Bismarck, ND, Cindy Nelson, Mandan, ND and Kristen (Fiancé, Jason Saari) Nelson, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Casey Nelson, Camie Bitz, Ryan (Chelsay) Tysver, Marcus Jahner Jr., Mason Jahner, Tyler Cadotte, Tanner Cadotte, Trey Cadotte and Taylor Saari; great-grandchild, Tylee Cadotte; sister, Dana Moore, California and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, step-father and grandparents.
