Emmanuel Zander

Emmanuel Zander, 63, Mandan, died September 9, 2014 at his residence under the care of Enable and Hospice in Mandan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND with Allan Knoll presiding . Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the Weigel Funeral Home one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Manny was born on January 4, 1951 to Emil and Julia (Stein) Zander. Having been born with Downs Syndrome he spent most of his adult life living at West Plainview in Mandan, ND.

He worked at the Fairfield Inn with Hit Inc.; he knew his job well always doing the best at it. Manny had a routine; he knew what it was and he stuck to it. Manny also participated in Special Olympics, enjoyed movies, grocery shopping, cooking and setting the table for his house mates. He also made the best pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving, enjoyed coloring Easter eggs and opening Christmas presents.

Manny will be deeply missed by his brother, Gary (Florence) Zander, Bismarck, ND; sisters, Lillian (Jack) Kautzman, Mandan, ND, Doris (Curtis) Dachtler, Davis, Ca, Diana (Gary) Handley, Granbury, Tx and Linda (Dick) Broen, Bemidji, Mn; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Zander, Mandan, ND and Frances Zander, Bismarck, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Manny was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Julia Zander; brothers, Lloyd, Donald, Fred and Carl; one sister, Caroline (Tony) Knoll.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Special Olympics.
