Diane Dirk, 62, Mandan, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 09, 2016 at St. Alexius CHI in Bismarck, ND surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Diane was born to Dr. Donald and Delight (Harkins) Moum on February 7, 1954 in Fort Riley, Kansas. Growing up Diane lived in Kansas, Germany, and Garrison before settling in Mandan. Diane married the love of her life, Leslie L. Dirk on August 11, 1973 in Mandan. Together they raised 3 wonderful children.

Diane received a degree from Bismarck State College as a Lab Technician. She worked as a claim specialist at Aetna. In addition, she and Leslie started their own business, Dirk Plumbing and Heating, Inc. where Diane worked as the accountant for 25 years. Diane loved the outdoors and went fishing and camping whenever she could, and she also enjoyed reading a good book. She was very creative and spent much of her time working with ceramics, crafting, and sewing. Family and grandchildren were the highpoints of Diane’s life, and her face lit up any time she saw them.

Diane will be deeply missed by her husband of 42 years Leslie; parents Dr. Donald and Delight Moum, Bismarck, ND; daughter Christy (Jon) Dirk-Senn, Mandan, ND; 2 sons, Ben (Carla), and Jason (Christine), both of Bismarck ND; 4 grandchildren Cody Dirk, Kaden Dirk, Owen Dirk, and Evan Dirk; sister, Deb (Mark) Engel, Pelican Rapids MN; 2 brothers David (Tami) Moum, Bismarck ND, and Daniel (Elaine) Moum, Tucson, AZ; 8 Sisters-In-Law, Lucrecia Dirk, Phyllis Dirk, Gloria Dirk, Sandy Dirk, Bonnie (Ken) Miller, Andreen O’Neil, Anette (Pat) Yauney, and Deb (Paul) Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

Diane was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Rasmus and Emma Dirk, 6 brothers-in-law, Jim Dirk, Roger Dirk, Nick Dirk, Mainard Dirk, John Bliele, Arden Kuhlemeyer; sister-in-law Kathy Moum; and nephew Joshua Moum.
