Dean Leingang

September 5, 1961 — February 8, 2015

Dean “Lenny” Leingang, 53, Mandan, died February 8, 2015 at his residence in Mandan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, February 13, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Msgr. Chad Gion as celebrant. Inurnment will be at Mandan Union Cemetery following the service. Cremation has taken place.


Visitation will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Dean was born on September 5, 1961 to Leonard and Julie (Wetsch) Leingang in Bismarck, ND. He was raised and educated in Mandan, ND. In 1982 he married Natalie Schmidt in Mandan and from their union 2 beautiful daughters were born Ashley and Jamie.

Dean was a contractor and carpenter working construction with his Dad and brothers and he took great pride in his work. He was a man with a big heart and many people were blessed to call him their friend. His family was his pride and joy, especially his granddaughter, Miah who loved spending time with her Papa. Dean enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish and camp. Ice fishing was one of his favorite activities. He would be the first fisherman on the ice and the last one off. He also was an avid poker player. He participated in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas numerous times. Dean also won many state poker championships. He enjoyed watching demolition derbies with his daughters and friends. He would help his cousin Thad get his demolition car ready and loved being part of his pit crew. Dean loved coaching his daughter and the team for Leingang Construction. The girls became some of his greatest friends and thought of him as a father. Dean will now be our “angel in the outfield.”

Dean will be deeply missed by his daughters, Ashley (Joshua) Jacobchick and Jamie (Tyler) Mowder, both of Mandan, ND; mother, Julie Leingang, Mandan, ND; granddaughter, Miah Lenny Jacobchick, Mandan, ND; sister, Tammy (Tim) Albrecht, Mandan, ND; brothers, Jody (Laurie), Greg (Wendy) and Todd (Shelly) all from Mandan, ND; best buddy, Angela Carter and special friend Kimmi Stewart along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dean was preceded in death by his dad, Leonard Leingang.
